Two years later, in Finding Fanny, Ranveer made a fleeting appearance, but there too, his character faces an unfortunate death, coaxing Deepika to move on with Arjun Kapoor.
While, in those days, they evaded every possible question around their relationship, viewers got a better taste of their chemistry, in Bajirao Mastani (2015). Again, a Sanjay Leela Bhansali spectacle, Bajirao fell for Mastani and vice versa, but, they couldn’t reach a positive conclusion even in that film.
It tugged at our heartstrings and all we could do, was wait, once again for Bhansali to provide a happy ending to this love story. So, the third time, they were again paired in Padmaavat. This time however, the premise was different as Ranveer’s menacing Khilji tries to overpower Shahid Kapoor’s Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, to win over Rani Padmavati and he fails miserably. Yet, somewhere deep down inside, we craved to see them together.
And, our dreams and thoughts turned into reality as they proudly announced their wedding plans on social media. Our happiness knew no bounds, because here was a couple, who had faced all odds, to reach dizzying heights in their professional lives. A couple, who was as different as chalk and cheese, yet managed to paint their own sweet love story, that too, with a happy ending.
