Alia Not Opposite Aamir. Does This Clear The Path For Vaani?
Thugs of Hindostan brings together two of the biggest names in the film industry, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan (Aamir Reveals The Title Of His Next With Big B, Sep 7, 2016). And joining this illustrious duo in the ambitious film being made under the Yash Raj banner was Alia Bhatt.

But now, whispers in the industry say that Alia is not doing it. And with that the path is clear for Vaani Kapoor, who was last seen in the Aditya Chopra directorial Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh.

Vaani was in strong contention for the role and now with Alia stepping away from the project, she looks set to star opposite Aamir and the Big B. Aamir is on a career high with Dangal becoming the highest grossing Indian film ever. He has also been bagging all the Best Actor (Male) trophies including the SpotboyE Salaam (SPOTBOYE SALAAMS: And The Winners Of 2016 Are..., Jan 4, 2017).

The film was originally supposed to star Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.

Thugs Of Hindostan is reportedly based on the 1839 English novel, Confessions Of A Thug by Philip Meadows Taylor. The novel is a tale of crime and retribution, set in 1832 India. The plot reveals the practices of thugs, who killed travellers for money and valuables.

The film will be helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who directed Dhoom 3,  and is set to go on floors this year. YRF aims to release it around Diwali 2018.
