Delhi High Court Dismisses Juhi Chawla's Petition Against 5G, Says It Was ‘Likely For Publicity’; Rs 20 Lakh Fine Imposed
Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla’s petition against ‘untested’ implementation of 5G telecom technology in India, has been dismissed by the Delhi High Court. Juhi Chawla and social workers Veeresh Malik and Teena Vachani had moved the High Court earlier this week, alleging that the 5G technology could have serious, irreversible impact on people and that it could cause permanent damage to the environment. On Friday, the Delhi High Court dismissed the plea and stated that it was likely filed for publicity.

According to a report in Live Law, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on Juhi and other petitioners for their defective plaint. “Delhi High Court dismisses and imposes costs of Rs. 20 lakhs on Juhi Chawla and others for their defective plaint against the roll-out of #5G testing in the country, says, plaintiffs "abused process of law", read a tweet by Live Law. Further, the Court stated that Juhi shared the link of the 5G hearing beforehand on her social media platforms, and that the suit was likely filed for ‘publicity.’

A report in Hindustan Times states that the Delhi High Court also said that the plea had been filled with unnecessary and frivolous material and that the plaintiff didn’t have knowledge about the facts.

Meanwhile, Juhi Chawla’s 5G hearing was interrupted by a fan singing songs such as ‘Ghoonghat ki aad se,’ and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ in the middle of the hearing. Live Law tweeted, “On the fan boy singing songs from  @iam_juhi's movies during the #5G hearing in the Delhi High Court, the court directs  @DelhiPolice to identify the person(s) and take action against them for disrupting a court hearing.”
