After the exit of actor Kartik Aaryan from Dostana 2, the makers of the film are in a dilemma as they have no one currently to take the spot of the actor. For the unversed, Kartik left the project in the middle after SpotboyE.com reported that he was dropped out from the sequel due to creative differences. Nevertheless, as per the latest report, actor Akshay Kumar is said to joining the cast of Dostana 2 after Karan Johar personally requested him to come on board. Reportedly, Dharma Productions asked Kumar to join the cast of Dostana 2 and save them from this 'tricky situation' since they do not have a lead at present.
The source tells the portal, “Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the shoot of the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast.” The source further adds that with the new developments in the cast, “Karan is even ready to make changes to the script — which was earlier written keeping Kartik in mind — so that it fits Akshay’s character.” However, an official statement from the actor as well as from the production house is awaited.
After we reported that Kartik will no longer be associated with Dostana 2, the makers dropped an official statement mentioning there will be a change in the cast. The statement read, "Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence-we will be recasting Dostana 2 directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.”
While Kartik Aaryan has made an exit, Janhvi Kapoor and debutante Lakshya Lalwani are retained in Dostana 2. The film is touted to be a sequel to the 2008 hit film Dostana that starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra.
