In a shocking revelation, last evening, SpotboyE.com broke the news of a police complaint been filed against choreographer, Ganesh Acharya by a 33-year-old dancer and assistant choreographer, Divya Kotian. She has accused Acharya of him of asking her to watch porn in his office.
We got in touch with Divya, a while back, and spoke to her on the incident. The assistant choreographer elaborated on the controversy for 15 minutes but soon broke down and started crying. She requested us to hang up as she could not hold the conversation any further. Excepts from the conversation:
When did you first meet Ganesh Acharya?
I met him in 2008 when I got my freelancer card. Then in June 2019, I made my assistant choreographer card. I have worked with him a few times in the past, maybe 5 to 7 songs.
But how did he come so close to you that something like he asking you to watch porn come into picture?
The act about him asking me to watch porn with him happened in 2009-2010, when I started my career. At that time, we had to go to his office to collect payment and shockingly, he used to watch porn in his office with full audio on. Whenever I went there, he used to tell me, see you will also enjoy it. Finally, I lost my cool and told him not to do all this with me and stormed out of his office, threatening him that I will complain to the police and the association, if he ever repeats it.
Did you sense something fishy about him, initially, when you were working with him?
I knew it somewhere that his character is a bit loose when it comes to girls. Inka naam kharab hai market mein, yeh betting, gambling bhi karte hai. After that day, I told him ki 'aaj ke baad yaha se call nahi aana chahiye'. And since then I haven't worked with him. We did meet occasionally, at events, and just greeted him out of respect.
Did this porn video instance occur a lot of times with you?

What was the issue about you oweing him some commission?
Along with being an assistant choreographer, I was a coordinator as well and provided dancers to choreographers. When he got to know this, one day he made one of his assistants call me and he asked to meet. Waha main Ganesh Acharya se mili and he told me, 'Agar tujhe coordination karna hai toh whatever songs you're coordinator for, give me commission of Rs 500 per dancer.' I refused and asked him, 'why should I pay him if I am not working for him, kaam mujhe koi aur de raha hai toh inko kiss baat ke paise dun?' He said, 'kaam karna hai toh aaise hi chalega.' He was basically throwing weight of his position as he was the general secretary in the association at that time. He also offered me to be his assistant but I refused saying I want to work independently and work as a coordinator.
So, was he holding this incident against you?
Yes, he always had this in his mind and that's why he cancelled my assistant choreographer card and also issued a non-cooperation letter against me. I had spoken against him, a few months back, that he is a non-payer and ever issues payments to the dancers on time, in fact, there are a lot of times he dafaults payments as well. He doesn't talk to dancers directly, unke assistant se hi baat hoti hai hamesha, who used to treat us badly, jaise ehsaan kar rahe ho dancers par. So, he got my card cancelled and took his revenge by misusing his power.
What happened on Jan 26?
I am jobless since 2 months. I don't have money and we are not that well to do. So, I met Saroj Khan, a few days back, and she told me to come for a Special General Body meeting (SGM) on Jan 26, and said she will raise my issue in the meeting. However, I asked her how will I get entry to the meeting as my card has been cancelled, so she said take my name and say, 'Saroj ji ne bulaaya hai.' I reached there at 1 pm came to know that Saroj ji is skipping the meeting because she has fever. So, those who were inside the meeting in my support, took out my topic but mikes were taken away from them, and they were told to discuss my topic, in the 'Any Other Topic' section, after lunch.
Was the topic discussed post lunch? And how did the meeting end up with you being beaten up?
By the time they took lunch break, Ganesh ko pata chal gaya tha that I am outside. While I was waiting, his assistant, Jayshree Kelkar, called out my name and when I turned, I saw Ganesh walking behind her. He was furious and asked me what I am doing there and mera kya kaam hai waha, since I don't even have a card. I retaliated and said I want answers as to why has my card been cancelled and I am being deprived of work. Utne mein pata nahi kya hua and Jayshree, and another girl who was with him, Preeti started hitting me. And mind you, they were not hitting like girls, they were aggressive like goons.
No one came forward to save you?
Luckily, there were a few young dancers and senior choreographers who came forward to protect me, otherwise I would have ended up with serious injuries.
Did you go to the Police station directly after the fight?
Yes, I did. In fact, Preeti came to me to find out whether I am planning to go to the police and tried to warn me against it, but I was in no mood to hear and went to the Police station to lodge a complaint against all three of them- Ganesh, Jayshree and Preeti.
Any action has been taken yet?
Kuch nahi hua hai filhaal. But I have received a call this morning from the Women Commission. I am meeting them today.
Did you speak to Saroj Khan after the incident?
No, I haven't spoken to her yet. I don't have her direct number. The last time I spoke to her was through someone else and gone to meet her at the dance school where she teaches. But I am sure untak khabar pahuch gayi hogi
What about your parents? Did they stop you from lodging a complaint?
Maine parents ko bataya nahi tha. They had no idea main kitne problem mein phasi hui hun (starts crying and requests to hang up).
