On August 7, we brought you the story that after
collaborating with Karan Johar (and Rohit Shetty) for Simmba, Ranveer Singh has
once again joined hands with Dharma. We also told you that Kareena Kapoor
Khan and Alia Bhatt will also be in it and the story largely revolves
around two brothers. Reportedly, Karan had earlier wanted Ranbir Kapoor
and Ranveer Singh to play brothers but Ranbir turned it down later. He had said
yes first but then changed his mind. It is now official that Vicky Kaushal will
play Ranveer's (younger) brother.
The biggest addition is the niece-uncle duo, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Janhvi impressed big time in Dhadak (also produced by Karan Johar) and Anil Kapoor is always so charismatic. It will be great to see the two of them together on screen. Anil has always been good, inclusive of his latest Fanney Khan where he played father to a collegian Pilu Sand. Takht will be Janhvi's second film.

Karan Johar will direct Takht, whose screenplay will be written by Sumit Roy who will also take up the mantle to pen the dialogues with Hussain Haidry..
This will be the first time that Kareena and Ranveer will share screen space. As for Ranveer and Alia, they have worked together in TV commercials in the past and will soon be seen in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. Kareena and Alia too have worked together before in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab.
