Sexual Harassment Accused Rajkumar Hirani Gets Nominated Under Two Categories In Filmfare 2019- Netizens Fuming
As the most-awaited award show, Filmfare 2019 is round the corner, the makers are continuously dropping the different nominations list, under different categories, on social media. But looks like, the recent nominations list of Best Director and Best Film, hasn’t gone down well with netizens.

Amidst sexual allegations, Filmfare has included Rajkumar Hirani’s name in the Best Directors list and also included his directorial, Sanju under Best Film category. The netizens have not appreciated this and slammed the publication for it. Rajkumar Hirani, was accused of sexual misconduct a few months ago. A female crew member who, had worked with the filmmaker on Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, had made sexual harassment allegations against him.

Soon after Filmfare posted the nominated names on social media, they started receiving a lot of flak for putting Hirani’s name in the categories. However, what caught our attention was that Filmfare deleted the nominations post of Best Director category in sometime.

Here are a few troll comments:

A Twitterati wrote, “#FilmfareAwards disrespecting India women, mothers and sisters by nominating abuser Rajkumar Hirani, a shit filmmaker and an even worse person. Boycott companies that advertise in film fare or at the awards! #BollywoodSucks #MeToo #India”

A girl questioned Filmfare and asked, “Filmfare nominated Rajkumar Hirani for best director?!!?!??! TELL ME AGAIN HOW MEN'S CAREERS ARE RUINED BECAUSE OF METOO ACCUSATIONS???”

A user wrote, “So, @filmfare has nominated @RajkumarHirani even when he has sexual harassment allegations against him and @MumbaiFilmFest dropped @anuragkashyap72 's Short film which had no connection with Phantom or Vikas Bahl. Such boot-lickers @jiteshpillaai @raghuvendras”

Another said,  “Despite everything their audacity to nominate Rajkumar Hirani. @filmfare is a sellout and bonafide trash!”

A social media user tagged Sona Mohapatra and wrote, “#metoo means shit in India. @RajkumarHirani nominated for a #filmfare award., @sonamohapatra”

A boy compared Bollywood with west culture and wrote, “If Bryan Singer had been nominated for an Oscar, or Harvey bloody Weinstein, @TheAcademy would've been lambasted into oblivion. But in India, we nominate Rajkumar Hirani for a @filmfare award barely two months after he was accused of sexual harrassment. Telling.”

A user said, “Anyways @filmfare r the most farcical awards.. so this is bound to happen. Has @aamir_khan & other actors come out to say explicitly that they will not work with Hirani ? @RajkumarHirani has no shame. @TOIIndiaNews @WorldwideMedia @anupamachopra what is your opinion on this now?”

For those who've come in late, the woman in question had said that Rajkumar Hirani assaulted her over a period of 6 months between March and September 2018. Soon after his name was involved in the #MeToo movement, Hirani released a statement denying the allegations. Hirani’s name was also dropped from Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga ahead of it’s release, as a repercussion of the same. Do you think it's justified to include his name in the awards category?
