Tanushree Dutta Calls Out Nana Patekar For Harassing Her: He Wanted To Do An Intimate Dance Step With Me

Just this morning we brought you the story of how Tanushree Dutta has spoken up about the #MeToo movement not being successful in Bollywood because she was sexually harassed in 2008, and everyone just watched silently. While in her previous interview to News 18, she hadn't mentioned the actor's name, who had harassed her, now in another interview to Zoom's Planet Bollywood, the actress had gone ahead to name the person.

Speaking to News 18, Tanushree had said, “The thing is that our country has become so hypocritical, and people constantly ask why #MeToo movement is not happening in India, it won’t happen unless and until you’ll acknowledge what happened with me in 2008. Everybody saw what happened but the memory and the popular perception of it is that Tanushree Dutta spoke up against harassment and then she was no more. The entire industry saw what happened but there was not one word of condemnation from anybody. Every single person in this country remembers my incident and this was something on national TV for three days but even today there’s a stoic silence on that. So, my question is, ‘Who is going to believe these hypocrites?’ These are the people who stand up and raise their voice against women empowerment.”

We dug deep and found out that the actor she was referring to was Nana Patekar, and the incident dated back to 2008, when she was shooting the Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. Now, speaking to Zoom on their 7PM show Planet Bollywood, Tanushree has confirmed that it is indeed Nana Patekar. Speaking about the incident she has said, "I want to take names - actor Nana Patekar, producer Sami Siddiqui, director Rakesh Sarang and choreographer Ganesh Acharya. When Nana Patekar misbehaved with me, he voiced out that he would do an intimate step with me as well in the song, which wasn't mentioned in my contract. It was supposed to be a solo sequence of mine. When I had complained about the same to the producer director, and told them to ask him (Nana Patekar) to stay away from me, they didn't pay heed. Just because I was new to the film industry, whether or not it was required, let's do an intimate scene with her." Watch the whole video on Zoom's Planet Bollywood, right here.

Rakhi Sawant was brought in as Tanushree’s replacement for the song in the movie. However, Nana Patekar addressed a press conference back in 2008-09 in response to Tanushree’s allegations then and had refuted Tanushree's claims. Nana had said, "Tanushree is my daughter’s age and I have no clue about what made her say such things about me. I have been a part of this film industry since the last 35 years and haven’t had anyone saying such things about me ever.”

Well, it's been more than 10 years of the incident, but Tanushree hasn't gotten over the harrowing incident at all. Let's wait and watch whether Nana Patekar makes any new statement now that Tanushree has opened the Pandora's Box again.
