Karan Johar took Internet by storm when he announced his next venture, Takht. With a gamut of big names attached to it, here's what rumours say each actor will be playing in the movie
Ever since Karan Johar announced his next venture Takht, people have been talking about it on social media. The film boasts a massive star cast comprising Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
With such big projects and an equally huge star cast, speculations are bound to happen as to who will be playing what in the movie. Reports suggest that the film will be based around the Mugal Dynasty's regime in India.
Reports suggest that Vicky will be essaying the character of the brutal Aurangzeb. Ranveer, who played the brutal Alauddin Khiji in Padmaavat, will be portraying Aurangzeb's brother Dara Shikoh. So Ranveer will once again be in a battle to claim the throne, only this time, he might be on the losing side.
Furthermore, it is said that Kareena will be portraying Jahanara, who Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh. She was considered to be one of the strongest personalities during the regime of Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb.
Anil is said to be playing the role of the old Shah Jahan, who was really powerful as a ruler, but lost to his son, Aurangzeb, who put him behind bars.
Alia might play Begum Nadira Banu aka Dara Shikoh's wife. Thus she might get paired opposite Ranveer for the second time after Gully Boy.
Then, Bhumi Pednekar might be seen portraying Dilras Banu Begum, Aurangzeb’s wife. It is said that she died early on in Aurangzeb's life, which is when he turned towards his next love interest, a slave called Hira Bai, which might be the character played by Janhvi Kapoor.
While all of this is speculative, Karan has been tight-lipped about the film's plot and everyone’s roles.
