Many TV actresses have been at the receiving end after they posted some hot and sultry pics in bikinis on social media, which is quite opposite of their on-screen selves. Surbhi Jyoti, who will be seen in the upcoming thriller series Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai, seemed visibly miffed when we asked her at the show launch about TV actresses like Nia Sharma and Rubina Dilaik being shammed on social media for sharing bikini pics.
She said, “People have no right to judge anyone and to decide for anyone that you should wear this and you shouldn’t. It’s a two-way thing. As an actor, we don’t ask our fans ‘why are you wearing this’? So whatever we do on-screen is our character and whatever we do in real are our real lives. So everyone is just free to do whatever they want to do.”
The actress has no qualms about wearing a bikini on-screen either. “Of course I do wear a bikini and I will wear one. I won’t wear a sari or a lehenga or a suit on a beach. I am an actor and it is about a character. If I am playing a prostitute, I’ll do all the things required to do justice to the character. I won’t draw unnecessary boundaries or limitations.”
While Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai will see Surbhi romance Sasural Simar Ka actor Shoaib Ibrahim, the actress also has her web series coming up titled Tanhaiyan, where she is sharing is screen space with another TV hottie Barun Sobti. Surbhi, who became a household name with Qubool Hai, has always managed to share a crackling chemistry with all her co-stars. Speaking about getting in the comfortable zone with her co-stars, Surbhi says, “We should give them equal credit. It’s just the honesty. If both people are honest towards their characters, then it will show on-screen. Even with Shoaib in KLKAH, we are passionately in love with each other and people will remember us. Wearing a bikini or having a sensuous chemistry is very overrated. I am acting. Don’t mix Surbhi with my on-screen characters.”
