After hosting Crime Patrol for eight years, Annup Sonii had decided to quit the show in April 2018. Now, a year later, Annup is set to return to the show as the host once again, as earlier reported by SpotboyE. For the show, the actor will be seen in all new avatar. The show is known to bring real life crimes. In his new look, the actor will sport a bearded look and will work his charm as he strongly talks about crime lurking in every nook and corner. He had recently shot for the promo, which will soon air on Sony Entertainment Television channel.
In a statement, Annup said, “I was associated with the show for seven years before I decided to take a break and focus on my other projects. It feels great to be a part of the show again after 15 months. Just like the previous season, this season will also talk about how small incidences trigger a normal person to commit a crime which can be a reflection of their frustration or emotional imbalances. There is a thin line between a normal person and a criminal mind. It just depends on the thought, how an attempt to pull the other person down is erroneous, but thinking to rise above the other person through one's own efforts is perfectly okay.”
He also told BT, “I took a break from the show as the actor
in me was restless. I consider myself as an artiste first and performing for me
is paramount. Somehow that wasn’t happening, as I was busy hosting 'Crime
Patrol'. In this year-long break, I did films and got to play different
characters, which helped me satisfy my hunger as an actor. I had no inclination
to return to the show and had moved on, but the makers have been understanding
enough to accommodate my requirements. I don’t want to put acting on hold and I
am glad that they understood my predicament. The show undoubtedly has given me
a lot of appreciation, but becoming synonymous with it also came with its own
restrictions. Also, I couldn’t experiment with different roles because of my
image of a righteous man on the show. As an actor, I should be free to explore
shades, which I got to do in this one year.”
