Surekha Sikri Is Recovering From A Brain Stroke; Yet The Veteran Seems Geared Up For Her Next Project- EXCLUSIVE

Today morning, we brought you some fresh pictures of National Award winner Surekha Sikri shared by her co-star Shashank Vyas. The actor paid a visit to the actress’ residence for congratulating her on the victory but the pictures created a matter of concern. The lovely Dadisa looked quite weak and we decided to call her up to know what’s wrong.

Answering our call, Surekha said, "I had a brain stroke in November last year and I fell down when I was shooting. Since then, I’m recovering from a medical situation and my condition is improving. Badhaai Ho released in October and within a month I faced this due to which I got minor paralysis. I am unable to eat much and that's why I have lost a lot of weight. I have my family around to take care of me and I also have a wonderful physiotherapist who comes and helps me out with my movements.”


Amidst all of this, the senior actress also spoke about her future projects as she said, "I have signed a short film which will be directed by Zoya Akhtar and it’s a very exciting project for which I will soon start shooting.”

We didn't miss the opportunity to congratulate her on her big win and she replied, "It’s a sign of appreciation for your hard work. I am blessed that for the third time, I have received this prestigious award".


When asked if there is a sequel in the making, she said, "For that, you have to ask the writers and director Amit Sharma as to what do they feel about it. But if you ask me, then there are a lot of possibilities in the story that could propel a sequel and something interesting can be made. If it happens, I would just love to be a part of the same. After winning the award, I have received many calls and even the director of this team congratulated me. Also, our screenplay writer, other than my co-actors Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao also called and congratulated me. It’s a great feeling as everyone seemed to be so happy about it.”

For the uninitiated, Surekha Sikri is a veteran actress who has worked in many popular TV shows and films. Her character of Kalyani Devi in Balika Vadhu is still fresh in our mind. She was last seen on Zee TV's Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani wherein she played the antagonist (Badi Rani Ma). Her performance in Badhaai Ho made her win the third national award.
