Karishma Sharma: When Kushal Is Not On The Sets, Something Feels Amiss

Karishma Sharma has finally signed her second film after 4 long years. She started shooting for Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 in 2014, the film hit theatres in 2015... and now after a filmi hiatus of 4 long years she will be seen in Vishal Mehra’s Hotel Milan that also stars Kunal Roy Kapoor. Meanwhile, she has kept herself busy doling out some entertaining content on the web. Her web series Ragini MMS Returns is a scorcher to say the least, and come May, she will be seen mesmerising her fans in Ekta Kapoor’s web show Kapoors.

We caught up with the sizzler for a tête-à-tête. Read the excerpts below...

Hotel Milan is your second film...
I’m playing a small town girl. Quite unlike the role I essay in Ragini MMS 2. I have an accent typical to Kanpur. Hotel Milan is based on the anti-romeo squad. It’s a political satire with romance thrown in. I have finished the shoot, just the dubbing remains. We are looking for a June-July release.

Did you undergo any training for the role and for the dialect in particular?
I have stayed in Patna for 3 years. I completed 5th-8th standard there. I find small towns and their dialect quite beautiful. This role was interesting because it took me back in time to my childhood, to the small town life. Director Vishal Mishra really helped me, I needed a lot of training and guidance and he was there.

What else is keeping you busy?
I’m doing ALTBalaji’s web series Kapoors that releases in May. It’s a story about 3 sisters, each one very different from the other.

Your character...
The role is not a bold one, like Ragini MMS Returns. My character is a smart one, she’s an emotional girl. The show is a sheer roller coaster ride, with a lot of depth and emotion. There’s a bit of romance, drama and comedy in the show. Partho da, who has directed Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is working on the show. I must say that I have been very lucky to work with good directors who constantly help me hone my skill.

Your chemistry with Kushal Tandon is being talked about...
Oh! He’s one of the best actors I have had on sets. He’s easy going and fun. When he’s not on the sets, it feels like something is amiss. We started as co-stars but have become very good friends. He’s a very good person too.
