AGAIN! Ajay Devgn Takes A Dig At Popular Film Awards
Ajay Devgn’s disdain for popular film awards is well-known. So is his aversion to dancing at public/private events. The actor reiterated his displeasure a short while ago, at a press meet held to announce the release of his production, Parched. The event was held at PVR Juhu.

When reminded about Parched winning many awards at the recently concluded Indian Film Festival (IFF) Melbourne,  Ajay said: “The kinds of awards Parched have won, they are not the kinds where we go and dance. Aur jo time pe pahuncha, usse award de diya... Woh awards nahi hote hai, TV shows hote hai.”  Ouch!! We are sure those words did sting a lot of B-Towners.

Parched, directed by Leena Yadav, stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla, Adil Hussain, Lehar Khan, Riddhi Sen, Sayani Gupta and Sumeet Vyas.

The film was recently in news for a nude sex scene between Radhika and Adil
(Radhika Apte's Nude Scene in Ajay Devgn's film!, Aug 15).

Parched, set in an Indian village, deals with female sexuality thriving in a repressed world of gender inequities and patriarchy. In the story, Leena dwells upon the fact that sexual ecstasy is not a male prerogative--- it is something which even a woman has a right to.

In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE.com, Adil had said how he was not comfortable shooting for the scene
(Radhika Apte and I had a chat before the sex scene to get comfy with each other: Adil, Aug 23).

“It's never going to be easy for most Indians to shoot sex scenes like this one. Most of us grew up not talking about sex and sexuality. I was no exception. But as an actor, it is important to break those boundaries. If I can exhibit tenderness, violence and anger aspects of human behaviour, why shouldn't I be equally free about sexuality when I'm doing it for art?”.
