Taylor Swift has a massive following in India, and recently, Indian Swifties were in for a surprise as the singer was seen wearing a lehenga set at The Brit Awards 2021. Taylor Swift created history as she was honored with the Global Icon award, and she became the first woman and first non-British star to receive the Global Icon Award. As pictures of her from the award ceremony went viral on social media, Indian fans were convinced that she sported a lehenga.

Taylor was seen in a silver sequin outfit, which international media termed as a ‘skirt and crop top’. However, Taylor’s Indian fans were convinced that she was channeling her desi avatar in a lehenga. Fans couldn’t keep calm, and while one of them wrote, “Okayyy soo the QUEEN is wearing an Indian traditional but modern wear... a lehenga... u CANNOT SAY ANYTHING ELSE let me have this ONE," another fan tweeted, “cant wait to tell my children about how taylor swift wore a lehenga to the 2021 brit awards.”

Taylor Swift also took to her Instagram handle to share a few snaps of her in the outfit. She wrote, “Spinning in my highest heels, luv #BRITs.”


Taylor Swift, in her acceptance speech, said, “I need you to hear me when I say that there is no career path that comes free of negativity. If you're being met with resistance, that probably means that you're doing something new." She also spoke about being met with cynicism, but not letting that be a deterrent.
