And he is finally
here. After much to and fro,
Nirmal Soni has returned to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as Dr Hathi. SpotboyE.com
was the first to break the news that the actor has been signed on for the role. When
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah commenced in 2008, Nirmal played Dr Hathi. Few
years later, he exited the show and Kavi Kumar Azad replaced him. Now, he has
re-entered the show playing the same character.
The untimely demise Kavi Kumar Azad left fans and the team shattered. The actor died of cardiac arrest on July 9. While the show’s cast continues to mourn his death, the show must go on. In Asit Modi’s words, “It is the actor who has passed away, not the character. We will have to replace him.”

Nirmal Soni will make an entry during the ‘Ganpati track’ to be aired tonight. The episode will see the members of Gokuldham are unhappy and dejected as they are unable to bring Ganpati owing to floods. Just then, Dr Hathi wades through the water carrying a Ganesha idol on his head. The residents are joyous and it is time for double celebration for them.

The entire team has been so supportive and co-operative. I’m happy that I got the opportunity to play Dr. Haathi’s character again after 10 years. It is incredible to see Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah running so strongly and I am grateful to its creator and producer Asit Modi for re-considering me.''
